There are many types of Florida health insurance for the individual and their family. Health Maintenance Organization plan or HMO insists that the patient see their primary doctor before visiting any specialists. Preferred Provider Organization plans or PPO offers a choice of physicians and hospitals who have agreed to offer discounted rates. Traditional plans allow patients to visit the doctor or hospital of their choice, but these providers have not agreed to discounted fees. The patient is responsible for any difference that the plan will not pay.
If an employee leaves the employment of their company and needs continuing coverage, COBRA plans will carry on that same coverage. HIPAA plans have limited coverage and could cost thousands of dollars per month. People with pre-existing conditions often opt for this coverage since other companies may deny them. Short term or temporary plans are just that; they offer temporary insurance. These plans cost less than PPO plans and do not limit the insured to certain physicians and hospitals.
These plans are limited and cover pre-existing conditions. Another option is temporary or short term plans. These plans are similar to traditional plans by not offering physicians and hospitals to choose from. They are only meant to cover a limited period of time, and the premium is less than a PPO plan.
AFFORDABLE PLANS FOR EVERYONE
The State of Florida has the highest percentage in the nation of uninsured residents. The State Legislature authorized Cover Florida Plans in 2008. Uninsured residents can obtain inexpensive coverage for roughly $150 per month instead of the usual 600 per month or more. This coverage is sold by insurance agents and is not State operated. The plan is still in the working stages and has been criticized for unclear or missing information. It has been argued that larger companies are just offering smaller plans with limited health and prescription coverage and co-pays. It has not been determined if medical supplies for patients are covered. It does not cover cancer treatment of chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery.
The Health Savings Account (HSA) is offered by agents, banks, and IRS-approved organizations that offer IRA accounts. This is a savings account that earns interest and is used to pay medical expenses until the deductible is reached. Not all agents offer this since the premiums are low and the plan is complicated to explain.
Obtaining Florida health insurance can be complicated and costly. The consumer will be equipped to make intelligent decisions if they are at least somewhat knowledgeable of the options they have to choose from.
If you get a family you should know how important it is to get Florida Health Insurance. Health Insurance florida is a life saver for your family.
